Ted and I have been in the gift business since 1958 and until our retirement from the day-to-day management in 1989.  Ted's background was advertising and product design, so we purchased one of the oldest gift shops in Beverly Hills, California in 1971 from the original owner, Adele who was ready to retire.  She had created the original concept of selling personalized gift items - mostly to the entertainment industry who were notorious for always demanding something new or unique.  With Ted's design background coupled with Shirley's great eye for finding unique gifts that could lend themselves to personalization, the couple became an instant success story.  And what a story it has been.

The first item they created was the original "Nosh Box" which is still displayed in thousands and thousands of homes throughout the world.  Other unique items were introduced along the way and over the years, but one item in particular has lasted and still is sought after, over these many years as "The gift to give and to be received" -- the Beveled Glass Invitation Box pictured below.

The Glass Invitation Box is created from the frame up utilizing clear, beveled and bankers glass pieces, cut individually by hand by our artists to surround and 'stage' the many unique and cleverly designed invitations produced today.  Pictured above was an invitation from the 1980s which is quite elegant for its time.  Today it is a classic and still treasured.

Many invitations are chosen because they are created from special materials and many include special attachments. Literally thousands of dollars are spent on creating the invitation and on the special event itself, so why not turn the invitation into a gift that will remind the recipient of that special moment in time?

That's what Shirley and Ted thought back in 1971, so they designed and crafted this beautiful gem of a gift.  They call it the Glass Invitation Box, but you (and the recipient) will call it "Gorgious", "Beautiful, "Magnificent" and other such superlatives.  Just you wait and see!

Should you want to make an impression - should you want to give a gift that will always be remembered - then this will become the "gift of choice" for you.

We've made these beautiful boxes for some of the finest homes in the world --- and for many celebrities.  The receivers of this magnificent gift usually display the Glass Invitation Box on their coffee table.  This is the kind of gift, (because it is so personalized) that it would never be discarded or hidden from view.  Wouldn't you agree?

Adele's was opened on Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills in 1948 and was purchased from Adele by Shirley and Ted Margulis in 1971.  A second branch was opened in 1974 in Encino, California.  Shirley and Ted retired in 1989, however they have been constantly asked to continue to offer the Glass Invitation Box, and this web site is the result.  Welcome to our newest store!

"It was a great feeling to be so complimented recently when Joe and I gave a friend's daughter one of your beautiful beveled glass boxes at her wedding reception.  When the occasion arises again to give a special gift, it will always be this very special Glass Invitation Box.
